Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach out to us at info@j3publishers.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Self-publishing with J3 is the process of publishing your book independently, without going through a traditional publishing house that owns all of your creative rights and a percentage of your royalties. You maintain creative control, rights to your work, and keep all your royalties while having J3 as your publishing representative.

Yes, we will ask you to open a KDP account and an IngramSpark account so that you obtain your royalties 100% of the time.

We provide a one-stop solution for authors—cover design, editing, formatting, ISBN assignment, and distribution — depending on the package you choose. Whether you're a first-time writer or an experienced author, we guide you through every step of the publishing journey.

Yes, we offer a range of editorial services for our authors, including copyediting, proofreading, and developmental editing, to ensure your manuscript is polished and ready for publication. This includes overall consistency, sentence structure, and spelling, also known as line editing and content editing.

Yes, we welcome submissions from authors all over the world. However, please note that all manuscripts must be written in English.

You can publish fiction, non-fiction, poetry, memoirs, children’s books, cookbooks, academic writing, and more. If it’s a book, we’ll help you bring it to life. Please note we are a Christian company. If your work honors God and/or is family-friendly, then we are for it.

Yes! You keep full ownership of your work. We help you publish, but you remain the rights holder at all times. We represent you in the Library of Congress application and in the ISBN assignment.

Costs vary depending on the services you need. We offer affordable packages that include editing, design, and distribution, depending on which one you choose. Please see our Services Menu for more information.

Yes. We distribute to major online retailers including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Apple Books, Kobo, and more. Your book can be available in both print and eBook formats.

Yes, you're welcome to provide your own cover design. However, if revision and editing are required for formatting on Amazon, IngramSpark, or other platforms, we will charge $50.00 per hour. Alternatively, our team of designers can create a professional, market-ready cover for you.

It depends on the services you choose and the readiness of your manuscript. On average, most projects take 4–8 weeks from start to finish.

You’ll have access to email and chat support throughout the process. All our packages include one-on-one publishing consultations before our agreement.

Yes, we have an agreement that safeguards both you, the author, and the publisher. We will provide you with a copy before services are rendered, and for legalities, we will meet and sign before a notary or through RON remote online notarization.

No, as an author, it is your responsibility to walk in integrity and to make sure that your facts are accurate and that you have not misrepresented your words through plagiarism.

If your book is republished or adapted for media formats such as audio, video, film, or other compensated use, J3 Publishers receives a commission as follows:

  • 5% of your compensation if it is under $1,000,000

  • 10% of your compensation if it is $1,000,000 or more

This applies to any earnings resulting from licensing, adaptation, or redistribution of your work that originated through J3 Publishers. This is valid perpetually.

To formally sever ties with J3 Publishers, you must complete and submit our Cancellation Form. Once processed:

  • We will remove your book listing from the Library of Congress (if applicable).
  • We will revoke the assigned ISBN registered through our service.
